Preparing Your Child for Kindergarten Success With Our Pre-K Program

Children between the ages of 3-5 are rapidly developing. From building on the foundations of their language skills to learning more complex social interactions, these abilities are vital to setting your child up for success as they enter into their school years.
Southwest Academies is committed to guiding your child through these essential milestones by immersing them in a world of engaging, age appropriate activities designed to spark a passion for learning. Our curriculum targets various learning areas to ensure that children are supported through their social-emotional development, cognitive skills, language growth, and physical coordination. We help your child find more confidence in their abilities, leading to increased independence and higher self-esteem.
Southwest Academies’s Pre-K Program focuses on building on the foundations established during infancy and toddlerhood. This focus ensures that your child will be set up for success once they enter kindergarten, allowing them a jumpstart into their academic careers.
Here is a closer look at our Pre-K Program:

Language Development

We work with our students to develop proper language skills to express themselves while also comprehending basic concepts. Our pre-k students will work on speaking longer sentences and be able to properly form “who, what, where, why” questions to gain a better understanding of the world around them.

Social Skills

At this age, your child begins to form friendships with their peers. Part of friendship involves  learning how to navigate complicated social skills, such as taking turns during play and developing the ability to share toys.

Cognitive Development

At this stage in your child’s growth, they work on developing their imagination. This is vital to the continued development of their creativity, problem-solving skills, and emotional intelligence. We also work to ensure that your child can appropriately think about past and future events, as well as basic rules and concepts, such as opposites and positional words.

Sensory Exploration

Sensory exploration is essential to your child’s growth as this is how they learn about the world around them. From exploring objects with their hands and mouth to being allowed to experience new sensations, such as hot and cold, our program is designed to give your baby the freedom to explore the world around them in a healthy environment. All our toys are disinfected every day and each activity is overseen by our caregivers.

A Day in Our Pre-K Program: Learning, Social Skills, and Fun

Our Pre-K Class begins with children receiving a healthy breakfast on arrival. After breakfast, they have a bathroom break followed by a cleanup session to support healthy hygiene habits. The morning continues with structured learning time through age-appropriate lessons that promote cognitive and language development.
Following this, children explore learning centers that encourage social interaction, cooperative play, and exploration. When it’s time for lunch, all of our students put away toys and take another bathroom break. We ensure that each child washes their hands before they eat to help stop the spread of germs and illness. Once lunch is over, we turn the lights down and allow our students to take a restful nap to recharge. After nap time, they clean up their naptime materials and enjoy a snack followed by a group activity. Then we do arts and crafts or outdoor play (weather permitting), to stimulate creativity and physical development. We then offer a nutritious dinner, which our students will clean up afterward followed by a final bathroom break. Our students will wash their hands and prepare for dismissal.

How We Support Parents in Their Child’s Pre-K Experience

One of the most important and influential relationships that have the biggest impact on the success of a child is the one they have with their parents. Southwest Academies understands how vital it is to ensure that parents are actively involved in their child’s education. We maintain full transparency with parents by offering the ProCare app. This application gives our teachers the ability to keep parents in the loop through photos, messages, and updates on their child’s progress. Parents can also ask questions through the app or provide updates on their child’s needs.
